  • Youth coming from Rising Scholars<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Could be youth coming from Key or those who haven\u2019t had Georgics yet   <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Read about 4 books per semester and writing assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Learn through the medium of activities, simulations, field trips, hands on agricultural & entrepreneurship projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • Class about the Revolutionary War & US Constitution<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Youth coming from Practice Skills Class, but also from Rising Scholars if they are ready<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Read 4-5 books per semester, weekly writing assignments, memorization including the Declaration, journaling the Constitution, work on Heritage Award<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Learn through the medium of discussions, document studies, activities and simulations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Take part in a Constitution Bee &\/or Bowl at the end of the year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Sword of Freedom (1 sem.)\/ Hero (2 Sem) :<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      • Class about the Civil War and World War II (discussing themes such as the Holocaust)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Experience history through \u201cmilitary competition\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Read 4-5 books per semester, weekly writing assignments, memorization including the Gettysburg Address, hero research papers & hero projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Learn through the medium of discussions, document studies, activities, simulations, & field trip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        SCIENCE<\/strong><\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        • At least 5 youth in the class<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Learning Chemistry 1st semester, Physics 2nd semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Youth coming from Key or Sword (or Pyramid,  those who haven\u2019t had Science yet)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Advantage for boys to have male mentors (they relate well with them)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Learn through the medium of discussions, hands on experiments, activities, field trips<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Reading at least 4 books per semester & writing assignments, research papers<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Completing 2 science projects per year, one per semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Participate in Lagoon\u2019s Physics Day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          • Quest level reading, demanding work similar to Quest (but can be tailored)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • (Possibly reading 5 books per semester)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Writing assignments, but not as much as Quest<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Oral exams each semester and a written exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Are students able to abstract literature forms? Are they ready to explore heavy life themes? <\/li>\n\n\n\n

            • Expectation to complete all assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Designed for youth who already write well (Writing Workshop can be offered for youth who are ready to push themselves)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Reading about 6 books per semester (and thicker books) <\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Writing mentor for each scholar required for this class (scholar & parents choose)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Learn through the medium of discussions, document studies, activities, projects & simulations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Polished essays and speeches<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Oral exams each semester & final written exam <\/li>\n\n\n\n

              • Required to attend a Writing Workshop (1 day to 1 week long depending on needs of scholars)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Writing mentor required for each scholar\/ Polished essay due every month <\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Reading 5-6 books per semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Learn logical fallacies & various worldviews that compete with the Christian worldview & learn to recognize these in society, media, etc. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Deep dive into history of feminism & other philosophies that shape our world based on various worldviews\/ Also focus on law, jurisprudence, economics (Path element), etc.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Learn through the medium of discussions, document studies, activities, projects, & simulations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Training on how to give speeches & opportunity to give them <\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Oral exams each semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Possible Supreme Court simulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Shakespeare Conquest<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                (Practice Scholar)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                This class is offered to first and second year students. We will be introducing students to the interpretive keys to studying great thinkers and giving them opportunities to apply these interpretive keys. During the 2nd semester, students will learn the dramatic keys used for performing Shakespeare and will rehearse and perform a Shakespearean play. Both semesters are required for first year students to be in the play. Parents must be willing to work with the director to provide a costume for their student(s) as needed. This class involves a large time commitment during the 6 weeks before the play when rehearsals are held. Parents will be asked to help with building sets, coordinating concessions, sewing costumes, transporting students, making arrangements for trips to Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City and Shine Camp, and other details that go into a production of this type. Prerequisite: Each student needs to have a parent signed up for a support role for the Spring 2027 Shakespeare production, please watch for an email with the signup sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Tuition Cost: $45.00 per semester plus books\/ $20.00 student packet<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                $ 6.00 per semester for purchase of Cliff\u2019s Complete Shakespeare play to be read. *If<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                siblings want to share, this can be paid once per family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                $80.00 Acting Shine Camp \u2013 estimated cost, due in February\u2014if available<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Cost for festival trip will depend on the success of the play\u2019s fundraising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Advanced Classical Acting<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                (Apprentice Scholar)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                This class is for those who have previously taken LEMI Shakespeare Conquest or its equivalent for 2 years. Each student will need to come prepared to audition with a 1-minute monologue the first day of class\u2014costumes and at least one prop are required. The class will study two Shakespeare plays, a Greek tragedy, a French farce and a modern classic play. They will perform two plays, one in January and then the class will form a traveling troupe in March and perform in the local area. Prerequisite: Each student needs to read TJED for Teens and attend the 3 summer scholar days dates TBD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
